               Eric
Straus Named FEI Steward General for Reining
In late 2005 the FEI determined that to better serve the sport,
and because stewards’ responsibilities have considerably expanded,
each of the seven FEI disciplines in a National Federation (NF)
should have a Steward General. There will also be one overall
Coordinating Steward General for each NF. Previously, just one
Steward General for all disciplines was appointed in each NF.

The new Steward General responsible for each discipline will report
directly to the USEF Coordinating Steward, and to the FEI Steward
                General for the same discipline.

After a thorough process, and based upon the recommendations of
the USEF Technical and High Performance Committees, the USEF appointed
Eric Straus as the new Discipline and Steward General for Reining,
                which is a four-year term.

The FEI also appointed Straus, New York, NY, as the FEI Stewards
                General for Show Reining.

              NRHA’s
Stacy Westfall Wins Road to the Horse Competition
Congratulations to NRHA’s Stacy Westfall, perhaps best known for
her bridleless Freestyle routines. Stacy won the Road to the Horse,
the colt-starting challenge, held recently in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
Westfall was the first female competitor. “The horses were extremely
challenging and each clinician was outstanding. I also think Stacy’s
win is a great step forward—confirming that women can compete
differently, but on the same level as men,” said Event Producer
Tootie Bland. For more information about Road to the Horse, visit
